I designed and prototyped this concept while at Big Monster Toys. While it has gone through a few iterations in house at Mattel, the original concept is very much still evident even in side by side comparisons.
The success of this line has been immensely satisfying having enjoyed two waves and an Amazon exclusive. Even better have been reviews and the difficulty of actually finding them in stock at stores. I have also seen photos floating around of a third wave and cannot wait to hunt them down.

Original sprung egg prototype. This first version had a foam body that would compress into a much smaller egg. Once it popped open, the foam would fill with air and increase the size of the overall product giving that impression of a very large toy appearing out of a small egg.
